It’s probably obvious by now that I can’t wait for summer to be over. As much as I love wearing dresses, having to hide from the sun and feeling hot all the time gets old really fast. Though Melbourne weather is generally pretty terrible, with extremely hot summers, there’s one thing I usually hate about it that actually ends up working in my favour: how unreliable it is.
Melburnians are very skilled in the art of dressing for four seasons in a day, given that sometimes over the course of a couple hours we need an umbrella and a jacket and a sleeveless top because it goes from scorching hot to windy then back to sunny and all of a sudden it rains. I know I can be pretty dramatic, but this is not an exaggeration. Because our weather is so inconsistent, the worst heat waves don’t last more than a week before a cool change hits, thankfully. That means that sometimes in the middle of summer you might be sporting outerwear like it’s no big deal.
My solution to dealing with all of this craziness is to look for light jackets that I can easily throw on as soon as it gets a little windy. I’m currently really into longer hemlines too, so I fell in love with this trench coat that Shein gifted me with*. It makes even the most simple of outfits look chic, like this jeans and singlet combo, but it also looks great paired with dresses while it’s still a bit warm. Comes autumn it becomes the perfect companion for boots and long sleeve tops too, and if you don’t have very cold winters where you live, you could wear it for a few more months – that’s how versatile it is.
Now that I’ve told you mine, I want to know what’s your favourite trans-seasonal styling tip. Leave me a comment below!
